KICKBOXING

 What is Kickboxing ?

These are fast paced one hour long martial arts classes. The instruction is conducted with fast paced Music. The class includes instruction in proper kicking (front kick, round house kick, etc) and punching (jabs, rear cross, hook, uppercut, and elbow strikes) techniques taught by professional martial artists. Students are also taught correct methods of striking heavy kickboxing targets without injuring their feet, hands, or elbows.

How is the Class Structured?

Classes are one hour long. They begin with several minutes of warm-up and thorough stretching. This is followed by 20 to 25 minutes of martial arts combinations from both kickboxing and traditional karate. We take a short 2 - 3 minute water break and then put on our gloves for 10 - 15 minutes of bag work - The instructors tell each student exactly which techniques to use, the exact sequence of techniques, and how to strike the targets properly for full power. The bag work gives the student an opportunity to simulate fighting scenarios using the same proper techniques used in the 1st half hour. It also provides additional strength training and the excitement of striking heavy targets. BODY TONING Kickboxing classes begin with a warm up and are followed by 2 - 24 minute non-stop circuits using dumbbells, stretch bands, and exercise balls. Each circuit includes legs, chest, back, shoulders, arms, abdominals, AND heavy bag work with kickboxing techniques. This class is an exhaustive, overall body and aerobic workout that tones your entire body. (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings only)
